Are we getting lost?
This is not the first time Lin has tried to raise awareness about issues he is concerned with. In fact, he has consistently created fish bone paintings for over twenty years, in which he created many paintings that reflect social ills.
In his painting with lines from a poem that reads, "A fleece of cloud is floating above the valley, birds returning at night are getting lost", he tried to depict the mindset of most Chinese in our times.
"We are like birds hunting for food - chasing after power, money and all material things, but our spirit has got lost, like birds that lost their way home," Lin said.
Many phenomena in contemporary China have in one way or another confirmed his worries – fear of helping those who fall accidentally on the street, the strained relationships between patients and doctors, etc.
"While some people's houses are getting bigger, their minds don't get wider," Lin said. He said that a nation would be pathetic if the ethos of helping and supporting each other is lost.
