China and Finland to set up mutual culture centers

Liu and Sipila witnessed Ding Wei, the deputy of the Ministry of Culture, signing the memorandum of understanding on the establishment of a culture center as well as the full range of cooperation in the field of education along with Sanni Grahn-Laasonen, the Minister of Education and Culture.

According to the memorandum of understanding, China and Finland will set up mutual culture centers in Beijing and Helsinki in line with the principle of mutual benefit.

The move is the result of the continuous development of the friendly relation between the two countries. It will create a new platform for deepening mutual understanding and cooperation between the two countries.

The Chinese Ministry of Culture has speeded up the establishment of cultural centers overseas. So far, there are 20 in the world with plans to build 50 more by 2020. The centers boost people's understanding of China through events and activities including training programs, art performances, exhibitions, seminars and forums.

Liu concluded her visit in Finland on Sunday, and will then visit the Czech Republic and attend Sino-Central and Eastern Europe Health Ministers Forum.
