Visiting Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong paid a visit on Friday to a Confucius Institute at the Maranatha Christian University in Bandung, Indonesia.
To welcome Liu's arrival, students staged performances, including several Chinese and Indonesian songs, and delivered speeches on the theme of "My Chinese Dream".
"Your excellent performances, especially the fluent Chinese speaking capability impressed me," the Chinese Vice Premier told the students.
"From you, I have seen the vigor and vitality of Indonesian young people as well as your affection for China and the Chinese culture, which makes me confident in the future ties between our two countries,"
In her speech, Liu noted that this year marks the 60th anniversary of the Bandung Conference, the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Indonesia, as well as the 70th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti- Fascist War.
The Bandung Spirit, which had a huge influence on the China- Indonesia ties and the history of international relations, still has strong vitality nowadays, she said.
As major developing countries in Asia, advancing win-win cooperation between China and Indonesia is in line with their common interests and will have a greater influence both regionally and globally, she added.
In her speech, Liu spoke highly of the launching of the cultural and people-to-people exchanges mechanism (PEM) between China and Indonesia at the vice premier's level, as the two countries are both multi-cultural and share a long history of cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
She expected this PEM could fully take effect and further strengthen educational and cultural cooperation, therefore to cultivate a number of talents who have a good knowledge of each other's nation and language.
She also encouraged the Confucius Institute to keep enhancing education quality, so as to make greater contributions in teaching the Chinese language and culture and promoting friendly exchanges between the two countries.
