Deshengbao Fortress was one of the 52 fortresses built along the Datong Great Wall in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). Deshengbao, which literally means "Victory Fort", was built one kilometer south of the pass connecting Datong and Inner Mongolia, a strategically important garrison town in the Ming Dynasty.
