Forest of Stone Steles Museum, initially established in 1087, is the largest and oldest museum of steles in China, with a large collection of 3,000 steles from the Han Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty. These stone steles record the development of Chinese culture and cultural exchanges between China and other countries.

Japanese heads of state preferred to visit the museum because of the similarity to the culture of China and Japan. "The Forest of Stone Steles is very famous in Japan. Many Japanese know it. I'm so happy to see it right now, "said Emperor Akihito when he visited the museum in 1992.
