Zhang Huoding graduated from Tianjin Opera School and now she is a professor at the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts. In 1993, she studied after Professor Zhao Rongchen, and became his last disciple. Professor Zhao Rongchen is a renowned Peking Opera artist and a proud descendent of Master Cheng Yanqiu (the founder of School of Cheng in Peking Opera). In 1995, she was transferred into China National Peking Opera Company. In 2001, she graduated from the China Opera Excellent Young Performer Graduate Class in National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts. In 2007, she held her solo concert of symphonic opera in Great Hall of the People, becoming the first opera performer there. In 2008, she was transferred into National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts to work as a teacher.
Zhang Huoding inherits and develops the performing arts of School of Cheng in Peking Opera in a creative way. She is not only skilled in the classics of School of Cheng, meanwhile initiated and created many new operas with graceful bearing of School of Cheng. All her singing tunes, speaking lines and postures possess the demeanors of great masters, which could highlight the demure, authentic, profound, and dignified features of performing arts of School of Cheng. In addition, she is adept in her singing skills, forming the remarkable style of “Cheng (Cheng Yanqiu) Accent Zhang (Zhang Huoding) Charm”. She ushers a unique school of Peking Opera with distinctive charm.
