In 2007, National Ballet of China rehearsed the Swan Lake of Makarova version which is the most popular version in global ballet circle. Natalia Makarova is the legend in the history of contemporary ballet. She received the strict ballet training in Russia, and then joined the American Ballet Theater. The Swan Lake of National Ballet of China’s version has been on the Royal Opera House in London, Theatre du Chatelet in Paris and other renowned theaters around the world. This version also becomes the popular ballet which attracts lots of international performing agencies to order.
The classic Ballet Swan Lake is a brilliant pearl on the crown of ballet art. The year of 1958 marked Swan Lake’s debut in China. The performing team at that time was the predecessor of the only national ballet ensemble---National Ballet of China. Since then, the western ballet art has rooted in the ancient oriental China.
The Swan Lake of National Ballet of China’s version has not been on stage for two years. In 2015, Meet In Beijing Art Festival invites the principal from American Ballet Theatre, Isabella Boylston, and the principal from Boston Ballet, Paulo Arrais, both of whom will cooperate with the actors from National Ballet of China, and present this immortal piece of works for the audiences in capital Beijing.
