"(I mean) can't we just pick out 50 or 100 of the most meaningful traditional characters in the Chinese language and add them to student textbooks? This wouldn't pressure them that much. Chinese characters are the essence of Chinese culture and I hope the original ones don't die out," Feng said, emphasizing the need to preserve full-form characters, rather than the later simplified ones to reflect the wisdom of China’s past and its philosophy.
