The Tang Dynasty is the period in ancient China that was most open to foreign influences and most influenced by other nations. Women with fuller figures were considered to be more beautiful. In response, clothing evolved to be looser and necklines lower to show the aesthetic tastes. It is in the Tang Dynasty that women in court began decorating their faces with painted patterns. In late Tang Dynasty, women often plucked their eyebrows to a rounder shape.
