The Nanyang Museum of Han Dynasty Stone Carving is the first museum in China that is specialized in collection, display and research of Han Dynasty (206BC-220AD) stone carvings. Situated in Nanyang City suburb in Henan Province, the museum was built in October 1935 and reconstructed twice in 1959 and 1976, respectively. The museum has a collection of over 1,300 stone carvings, of which 150 pieces are of the national first grade.

The museum is the art treasury of the Han stone carvings. The most famous stone carvings are Tianlu Bixie (two mythical animals that are supposed to drive away the evils) and Xu Ahqu Tomb Stone Carving of the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220).

The stone carving of Tianlu is 165 centimeters high and 220 centimeters long, while that of Bixie is 165 centimeters high and 225 centimeters long. The Xu Ahqu Tomb Stone Carving of the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220), 109 centimeters in width and 69 centimeters in hight, is a very rare epitaph in the ancient society.

In addition to the annual exhibitions, the museum often organizes temporary special exhibitions from home and abroad, such as Nanyang Han Stone Carving.
