Drunk on his own achievements, Qianlong Emperor put much time and energy into artworks in his old age. He sometimes made poems and ordered the Imperial kiln to manufacture porcelain wares with his poems written on them. This big vase, above, decorated with Qianlong’s poems, was also in a new shape created during the Qianlong period. It sold for 27,025,000 RMB at the China Guardian 2014 Spring Auctions.
