Under the guidance of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and co-sponsored by the China Association of Books and Periodicals Distribution, the 4th Chinese Publication Exhibition Tour in Southeast Asia was held in Thailand from September 30 to October 11, 2020. This is the only overseas book exhibition of the Chinese publishing industry in 2020. More than 2,600 books of 56 presses from China were displayed. Thailand, Malaysia and Cambodia also took part in the exhibition tour.

The exhibition especially organized a zone for China-themed books. More than 2,600 books from 56 Chinese presses appeared on the tour. The publishing houses can negotiate copyright with foreign companies via online videos.

China Huacheng Publishing House and Thai SMMPLUS Press successfully discussed via video link. Books on China's experience in fighting COVID-19, such as Guide to Psychological Intervention and Zhong Nanshan, appealed to Thai SMMPLUS Press.

Apart from that, the children’s books were especially welcomed on the exhibition. Crackling and other children's books of Oriental Press caught the attention of Thai Spider Press. Both sides reached cooperation agreements on several books on the spot.

The 4th Chinese Publication Exhibition Tour in Southeast Asia has been successfully held for four years since 2017. It plays an essential role of promoting cultural communication between China and Southeast Asia, and also provided opportunities for displaying intangible cultural heritages. Up to now, the tours have been to Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, the Philippines and Malaysia. The publishing houses and readers in these countries have shown great attention to the tour.
