A parcel of 400 high-quality masks was sent to Qixian town, Xiuwu county, Henan province, from Singapore on January 31. The parcel was sent by a nine-year-old Singapore girl called Li Jingya.
The town government got in touch with Li to find out why she had donated those masks to a small town in Henan. Li’s parents are Chinese living in Singapore. During the Spring Festival, Li’s family learned from TV and the internet that China was suffering from pneumonia caused by the new coronavirus. They were worried knowing that many areas were facing shortage of medical supplies.
Li told her father that she wanted to buy some masks for her relatives in China to help them overcome the disease. Supported by her parents, she immediately purchased 400 quality masks in Singapore.

Li’s father knew from WeChat that people in Qixian town were fighting bravely against the disease which touched him a lot. After discussion, they decided to send the masks to this small town.
“My mom and dad told me that our hometown is on the other side of the ocean named China. We love our motherland!” Li said proudly. Li also sent a picture through WeChat with her best wishes to China written on it.
“What Li did moved everyone here. We are convinced that nothing can stop the coming of spring. We will get better soon,” Zhang Hui, secretary of the Party committee of Qixian Town, said.
