The Malaysian Youth Beijing Winter Camp, organized by the Malaysian Han Culture Center, took place in the capital city. A total of 46 Malaysian Chinese youth aged 12 to 22, chosen through previous selection rounds, had the opportunity to participate in the inspection and training activities in Beijing under the leadership of four team leaders during the 10-day event held Dec 10 to 19, 2019. In line with the theme of the winter camp, Tour of Ice and Snow, those with sports-related achievements enjoyed preference for admissions in the selection process.

In addition to visiting major historical sites in Beijing, students came to the Beijing Chinese Language and Culture College to study Chinese culture, and visited the administrative areas of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

Campers also attended three lectures about the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, where speakers introduced preparations for the Games, the experience of outstanding Chinese players and the recruitment of volunteers for the events.

Li Ziyi, one of the campers, was very interested in the activities, and wished to experience Chinese culture through the visit.

Wu Hengcan, chairman of the Chinese Culture Center, said that this year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between Malaysia and China. He expressed his wish that the teenagers could learn about the Games, so as to prepare them to apply to serve as volunteers in the future.
