The Seventh Guangxi Youth Science Festival begins

The seventh Guangxi Youth Science Festival as part of Guangxi’s National Science Popularization campaign started at science and technology museum in Guangxi, October 14, 2019.

The festival was jointly organized by Science Association in Guangxi, Civilization office and Education Bureau, and cooperation between 14 prefectures in the region to carry out activities with more than 230 primary schools and high schools, juvenile activity centers and other institutions. More than 1 million teenagers are expected to share ideas and experience the exciting world of technology.

The activity will last about 40 days, and the main events at Guangxi sci-tech museum and other sci-tech activities will also be launched in various prefectures and cities in the region.

One highlighted activity focuses on artificial intelligence and has great appeal for youth and sci-tech fans. AI, 5G application, innovation of sci-tech, sci-tech popularization among ASEAN countries, STEM education and MR experiencing programs attract visitors with their practicability, enjoyment and ornamental value. The Seventh Guangxi Youth Sci-tech innovation award was also presented at the main exhibition zone.

The People's government of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement with the China Association for Science and Technology in March, making "promoting the popularization of science and technology between China and ASEAN" an important part of the agreement. In parallel with the Belt and Road Initiative, this science festival has invited institutions from abroad for the first time, aiming to strengthen exchanges in the areas of science and technology, culture and education between Guangxi and ASEAN countries.

At the Singapore display area, visitors played games with AI robots. At the South Asia display area, children can gain an in depth understanding of science, technology, engineering and mathematics through playing with traditional and modern toys. Students from Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Malaysia and other countries studied in Guangxi, together with local teenagers, taking part in activities that help popularize science and enable the two sides to deepen understanding and enhance friendships.

During the period of festival, the mobile science and technology museum of China will also hold a tour of the ASEAN expo to promote exchanges and cooperation between China and ASEAN countries various scientific fields through sharing sci-tech resources.
