Burmese-Chinese teenagers start root-seeking tour in China

The 2018 Overseas Chinese teenagers’ root-seeking summer camp was launched in Mangshi on May 22.
The camp was organized by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, Dehong Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, Dehong Technology Bureau (Science Association) and Mangshi International High School. The camp-cum-Burmese youth popular science exchange activities were officially launched in Mangshi.
112 students from 112 ethnic Chinese youths from Mangji, Dongzhi, Zhanzhan and Dangyang districts in Myanmar and Mangshi International High School participated in the opening ceremony.
Young people from both China and Myanmar showed their style on the stage after the ceremony with 13 cultural programs including Latin dance, Burmese folk dance, Dai dance, guitar play, and street dance.
The 10-day summer camp helped overseas Chinese and adolescents in China have better understanding of their country of origin, their relatives in their hometowns, enhanced their contacts with their countries of origin, and promoted Chinese culture’s inheritance and development among overseas Chinese.
