Three Chinese titles get green light for publication abroad
The authorization ceremony of three Chinese titles was held at the 55th Bologna Children's Book Fair in Italy on March 26.
The Malaysian version of The Tale of Boy Jiali, Postman of Buluo Town, and the Italian version of San Mao were given the green light for publication.
Additionally, the late Chinese comic artist Zhang Leping (1910-1992), author of the San Mao comics, was given the "Special Honor" at the 2018 Silent Book Contest. He is the first Chinese caricaturist to ever receive this prize.

The Tale of Boy Jiali is called "the beginning of China's humorous growth novels" which flows with Mark Twain's way of wit and humor. It has been selling for decades and the demand has not yet diminished. The Japanese, English, Taiwanese, Hong Kong, Chinese, Dutch, and German versions of the book have been published for years.
Postman of Buluo Town is a fairy-tale full of romance, warmth and tenderness. The plot is twirling, the imagination is ingenious, and has won awards repeatedly since its publication, and its Arabic and Korean versions were signed within a few months after their first release.
San Mao is one of the world's longest-running cartoon characters created by the late cartoonist Zhang Leping, and remains a cultural landmark as one of the most adored artistic figures in contemporary China.
In 2014, San Mao joins the Army and Adventures of San Mao was published in French.
Feng Jie, president of the Shanghai Juvenile and Children's Publishing House, said the authorizations are important measures for the “going out” strategy of the Chinese cultural industry and the promotion of Chinese children’s book overseas.
