Thousands of devotees congregated at Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple in Waterloo Street, Singapore on Chinese New Year’s Eve hoping to be the first to offer prayers for good luck and great health in the Year of the Monkey. At the stroke of midnight, the devotees rushed forward to plant their joss-sticks.
