Guilin is one piece of paradise on the earth, situated in the northeast of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in China, and is famous for its unique Karst landscapes in the world.

History in Guilin

According to record, a small group of people came here and settled along the Li River in 314BC. And then, this wonderland was established as a small county in 111 BC during the Han Dynasty, and got developed since the Tang and Song dynasties. As one important nexus between the central government and the southwest border, it became the political, economic and cultural center of Guangxi. In 1921, Sun Yat-sen, the first president in China, came here and made this city as one of the headquarters of the Northern Expeditionary Army. In 1940, this city was named Guilin. In 1981, this ancient city became one of the four cities in China (the other three are Beijing, Hangzhou and Suzhou) for protecting the historical and cultural heritage, as well as natural scenery.
