The 26th World of Wearable Art Award (WOW) ended on the evening of Oct 12 in Wellington, New Zealand. The Shaolin Kung-fu Monk Troupe, dispatched by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Henan Provincial Department of Culture, performed highly-acrobatic Kung-fu moves for more than 4,000 people at TSB Arena. Their performance was arranged in the closing section of the show which was themed "Kingdom of the East".
WOW's show, held annually since 1987, has become a famous brand with international influence in New Zealand and a shinning icon of its cultural industry. It is not only a platform for pioneering and creative costumes to show, but also an art feast integrating opera, music, lighting and stage.
The director of the WOW show said that Shaoling Kung-fu is mysterious and an eye-opener. It enlightens people and encourages people to think. Based on the conception of diversity, openness and creativity, he said he expected to cooperate and exchange with different cultures and acquire more inspiration from the "treasure-chamber" of Chinese culture in the future.
