Located on China's southeastern coast, Xiamen has been a major seaport since ancient times. It is one of the forerunners of China's special economic zones. The city was rated China's most romantic Leisure City in 2011.
Xiamen received high grades for its exceptional living environment, ranking second in this indicator, next to Shanghai. It also shows its advantages with a favorable entrepreneurial environment and admirable public environment. One drawback, however, is that foreigners' salaries are lower than expected here.
