Beijing, capital of China, is surrounded by Hebei Province, with the exception of neighboring Tianjin, to the southeast. It is the country's political, cultural and educational center, as well as a major transportation hub.
The city is the second best city for foreigners to live in China, with its outstanding international atmosphere, multicultural environment, salaries, personal rights protection, health care environment and children's education. However, its natural environment, working environment and traffic should be improved, the survey suggests. Air pollution in the city is becoming more serious, which dragged down the total score of Beijing.
