In the Nongnooch Tropical Garden in Thailand, elephants are eating bananas.

Thailand is known as the land of elephants. Elephants are symbols of auspicious and national treasures in Thailand, widely loved by tourists. March13 is the annual Thai elephant festival. To celebrate the day, Thai Chonburi Province and Surin Province held a big meal for elephants that veryday.

Nearly 60 elephants were served at the "lavish buffet" at the Nongnooch Tropical Garden in Chonburi Province on Mar.13, 2022. A huge table was set out with fruit and vegetables for them to eat. In Surin Province, nearly 300 elephants were gathered for festival as well.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the local community has not received foreign tourists for a long time, and the presence of tourists on the day added a lot of vitality to the celebration. "People like to see the elephants and feed them food, especially bananas, which the elephantsespeciallylike. They all look healthy and happy."

According to the authorities, the celebration aimed to show the importance of elephants and to raise the awareness of animal protection.
