Shanghai Fashion Week to go ahead as planned

The 2021 Spring/Summer Shanghai Fashion Week will resume its offline catwalk and show on Oct 8 under strict epidemic prevention and control, according to the news conference held by the Shanghai Fashion Week Committee Office on Tuesday in Shanghai.

According to the committee office, new collections of nearly 100 women's, men's and children's wear as well as full dress brands will be launched from Oct 8 to 18 in venues at Shanghai Xintiandi, Taiping Lake parkland, ONE EAST, HKRI Taikoo Hui, and 800SHOW.

"Shanghai Fashion Week underwent reform during the epidemic period and launched an online fashion show for the first time. Today, it will bring more innovative releases," said Liu Min, deputy director of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce.

"I hope that Shanghai Fashion Week will play a greater role in the construction of an international consumption city and fashion capital, gather more creative resources, and further create a good shopping and consumption environment in Shanghai," she added.

Seven trade businesses, including MODE Shanghai Fashion Trade Show, Tube Showroom and modalink by IGFD, will be launched from Oct 9 to 14 for buyers from around the world to place orders for the new collections.

As one of the key highlights of the fashion week, A Material Utopia Exhibition by ULIO SPACE, which will focus on sustainable fashion development, will also be held at the Expo Shanghaimart from Oct 10 to 13.

In a bid to promote hanfu, the final and award ceremony of the China Xu Zhou Han Costume Design Contest will be held on Oct 11 in Shanghai International Fashion. Top Taobao livestreaming anchor Weiya will also attend the fashion week to launch her brand VIYA NIYA.

Other events, including the Tmall Fashion Festival and final and award ceremony of the 2020 International Model Contest will also be held during the fashion week.
