On Aug 12, an online video exhibition celebrating Jiangnan, the region south of the Yangtze River, was organized by the China Cultural Center in Sydney and the Chinese Tourism Office in Sydney, together with the culture and tourism bureaus of Shanghai and Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui provinces.
Jiangnan is the cradle of many Chinese cultural treasures. It represents beauty and poetics. Bai Juyi, a great literatus of the Tang Dynasty (618-907), once wrote the famous poem Memories of Jiangnan.
Today, the Yangtze River Delta, where Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui are located, is packed with cultural and tourism destinations. Known for both beautiful natural scenery and profound culture, visitors fall in love with the elegant Jiangnan gardens, ancient temples, exquisite lakes and mountains.
Zhouzhuang, Tongli, Xitang, Wuzhen and other water towns south of the Yangtze River have been popular choices for travelers over the years.
The exhibition is one of the Visiting China Online activities hosted by the China Cultural Center in Sydney and the Chinese tourism office in Sydney, which will also be seen on social media such as WeChat, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
