Although Spring Festival is a Chinese cultural tradition, in recent years its popularity has travelled beyond China’s borders, and it’s now celebrated across the world.
The National Maritime Museum in the UK has planned a wide range of activities to celebrate the upcoming Chinese New Year, which falls on Feb 5 this year.
During the program, which is scheduled on Feb 9, the Shanghai Theatre Academy will stage a song-and-dance performance, while attendees will also be able to participate in workshops focusing on dragon dance and hongbao crafts, or join a storytelling session where the Story of Nian (a Chinese folktale about the origins of Spring Festival) will be shared.
