As the first event in Mexico under the framework of the "Happy Chinese New Year" program launched by the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 2019, the award ceremony of fifth children's painting competition- "China in My Imagination" and the opening ceremony of exhibition displaying the competition's award-winning and shortlisted works were held at the Postal Palace of Mexico City in Mexico, January 17.
The event was co-organized by the Chinese Embassy in Mexico, the Chinese Cultural Center in Mexico and the Arts Bureau of the Mexican Ministry of Culture. Chinese Ambassador to Mexico Qiu Xiaoqi, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy to Mexico Zhuang Lixiao, Director of the Chinese Cultural Center in Mexico Luo Jun, as well as officials from Mexican Ministry of Culture and Postal Palace of Mexico City attended the ceremony. More than 450 guests, including award-winning students, teachers, students and parents from participating schools, were present.
Aimed at 82 public elementary schools and eight art workshops in Mexico City, this competition, with the theme of Chinese New Year, collected 750 works, of which 172 were shortlisted.
