Chongqing Municipal Drama Troupe
The Chongqing Municipal Drama Troupe was founded in 1957, formerly known as the Cultural Troupe of the Southwest Service Group of No. 2 Field Army of the PLA.

Over the past 40 years, the troupe has staged over 250 plays. Among the plays it has created are Dream of 40 Years, Red Cliff, Flying Wing to Wing, Conflict, A Cold Summer, Among the Enemies, News in the Provisional Capital, An American General in Chongqing, Mountain Soul, Sand Land and Touching Youth. Other plays in its repertoire are Russian Problem, Julius Fucik, Thunderstorm, Sunrise, Chongqing in Fog, Final Act, Are There Empty Wine Bottles for Sale, Transformation and Peasants. Its Dream of 40 Years won 10 prizes for playwright, director, performance, and stage designer at the National Drama Festival in 1956. Flying Wing to Wing won the first prize for best actor, best supporting actress, best director and various encouraging prizes at the 1st Southwest Region Drama Festival in 1990. Mountain Soul won prizes for playwright and director in 1991, and its director Xu Jiuhu and actor Wang Jianwu won the gold lion awards issued by the Chinese Dramatists' Association respectively. Sand Land won the prizes for best actress, best director at the 2nd Southwest Drama Festival in 1994, and Haung Qingwei won the gold lion award for his performance.

Some of its artists joined the Chinese Dramatists' Delegation and visited Germany, Czech, Japan and Australia. Troupe include first grade performers Tian Guangcai, Liu Xi, Xu Liqi, Wang Jianwu, Chen Xin, Li Bijun, Xiong Zongim, Ding Shenghui and Huang Qingwei; first grade directors Zhao Qiang, Xu Jiuhu and Dai Ke; first grade stage designers Wang Yichen, Xi Hua and Cui Shi; first grade playwright Shi Xi.
