Tibet Zang Opera Troupe

Zangxi Opera, with strong ethnic characteristics, is one of the most ancient national operas in Chinese history.

The Tibet Zang Opera Troupe was founded in 1960. Since its founding, the Troupe has adapted and staged traditional Zangxi operas like King Nuosang, Zhuowa Sangwu, Princess Wencheng, Suji Nima, Langsa Wenpo, Baima Wenba and Chimei Gundan. It has also created some new operas such as The Fate of Cangjue, The Turo of Yuan Emperor and Tangdong Jibu as well as some operettas, song and dance programs and etc. Among them, Langsa Wenpo, King Nuosang and Zhuowa Sangmu won prizes at national ethnic art festival. Langsa Wenpo was made into a film and won Feitian Awards for best TV plays.

The Troupe became a great hit during its trips abroad. It has toured over a dozen countries including the USA, Japan, Germany, Italy, Canada, Austria and Mongolia and has been warmly received.

The Troupe has veteran artists like Zhaxi Dunzhu, Arma Ciren, Arjia Laba, Doji Zhanddui and Jiang Cun and a young generation of artists like Ciren Pingduo, Pu Qiang, Dazhxi Ciren, Gesang Cirwang, Zhuo Ga, Lang Ga, Ba Sang and Ci Lamu.
