Qiongju Opera Troupe of Hainan Province
The Qiongju Opera Troupe of Hainan Province, formerly Guangdong Qiongju Opera Troupe was founded in 1959 and got its present name when Hainan was established as a province in 1998.

Since its founding, the Troupe has produced and adapted 210 classical plays such as Searching the Academy, Zhang Wenxiu, Poem on the Maple Leaves, Selling Rouge, Butterfly Lovers, Qin Xianglian, Chun Cao Breaking into the Court, Queen of Han and A Couple of Butterflies. It has also created and adapted 216 contemporary plays such as Red Detachment of Women. Golden Chrysanthemum, Hongshu Gulf and Chaoyang Ditch and 17 historical plays such as Hai Rui Rehabilitated, Story of Green Plum, Two Stars Gathering and Su Dongpo in Hainan. Its TV opera Su Dongpo Advocating Education won the Third Prize of National TV Opera Award in 1997 and the Third Prize of National TV Feitian Award.

The troupe has toured Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and other countries, staging over 50 plays such as Searching the Academy, Crows Playing with Phoenix, Princess of Hundred Flowers, Twin Butterflies and Story of Green Plum.

Major artists of the Troupe include first grade playwright Li Fang; first grade performer Chen Jinhe; second grade performers Wu Duodong, Cao Qiuju, Wang Hongfu and Wang Hehua; second grade directors Huang Liangdong and Zhou Bing; second grade composers Chen Shiwen and Lu Mingfang and second grade choreographer Ke Xingyu.
