Central Academy of Fine Arts

The Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), founded in 1950, is an institution of higher education under the Ministry of Culture.

-- Duties and Tasks

The duties and tasks for CAFA are: train specialized personnel in oil painting, Chinese painting, calligraphy, sculpture, porcelain fresco and project design as well as scientific research and historical theory.

-- Establishment

Under CAFA, there is Department of Chinese Paintings, oil Painting Department, Print Department, Sculpture Department, Fresco Department, Design Department, Department of Art History, Teaching and Researching Section of Common Classes Library, Exhibition Hall, Editors' Office, General Office, Foreign Affairs Department, Department of Students' Affairs, Office of Development Fund, affiliated high school and Research Institute of Sculpture Art.

-- Major achievements

The major achievements of CAFA which have won prizes since 1978 are:Opinions on the Teaching Outline of the Central Academy of Fine Arts;40 Years of the Central Art Institute in Resptrospect; and the initiative conception of the system reform of the CAFA.
