The National Art Museum of China has expanded its team of international counselors by appointing Mathew Trinca, the director of the National Museum of Australia, as a member. Trinca received his letter of appointment from Wu Weishan, the director of NAMOC, during a recent meeting in Beijing.
Trinca was visiting the Chinese capital to open an Aboriginal art exhibition at the National Museum of China, which shows bark paintings from the National Museum of Australia's collection.
Wu and Trinca also signed a letter of intent on intensifying cooperation in the exchange of exhibitions, collections and staff.
In 2010, the National Museum of Australia brought a collection of works by Aboriginal artists to the NAMOC. And the following year, NAMOC took a selection of its modern and contemporary Chinese art to its counterpart in Canberra.
