More than 10,000 participants took part in a half marathon in Xianlin district in Nanjing, Jiangsu's provincial capital, on April 21.

They included more than 100 contestants from 22 countries and regions, such as the US, Japan, South Korea, Ethiopia and Kenya.

Xianlin sits in the green corridor east of Nanjing and boasts great mountain and river views, and local government aims to spice up city life through the marathon that was hosted by the Chinese Athletic Association.

The route covered well-known local scenic spots and institutes of higher learning, which enabled runners to enjoy Xianlin's distinctive landscape scenery and culture.

Kiprop Philip Calvin from Kenya won the men's race with a time of 63 minutes and 20 seconds, and Gurmu Belainesh Yami from Ethiopia topped the women's group, finishing in 76 minutes and 59 seconds.
