Award-winning Chinese filmmaker Zhang Jiarui will direct two multimedia shows that combine elements of singing, dancing, painting and film, the director announced in Beijing recently.
The show, Makye Ame, takes inspiration from an eponymous painting of a Tibetan girl by artist Yang Youlong and the song On the East Mountain, which borrows lyrics from a poem written by ethnic Tibetan Tsangyang Gyatso. Zhang will also incorporate Yang's new painting of a Chinese sea goddess, Mazu.
