LONDON-Characters from the award-winning hit fantasy TV series, Game of Thrones, will appear on a new series of stamps, Britain's Royal Mail announced on Wednesday. The collection of 15 stamps will feature British contributions to the US show based on the books by George R. R. Martin.
Most of the filming for the series takes place in Northern Ireland.
Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow and Arya Stark are among 10 characters featured on the set of stamps which will go on sale at UK post offices on Jan 23. The three are played by British actors Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington and Maisie Williams.
The stamps also feature fellow British actors Lena Headey (who stars as Cersei Lannister), Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) and Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister).
In addition, another sheet of stamps will also feature the Night King, White Walkers, Giants, Direwolves and Dragons. And one stamp will feature the contested Iron Throne.
The fantasy production involves a very significant British contribution. Principal filming of the series takes place at Titanic Studios in Belfast, at the Linen Hill Film Studios in Banbridge and at locations elsewhere in Northern Ireland. Additional filming takes place in Scotland and other European locations including Malta, Croatia, Iceland and Spain.
A spokesperson for the Post Office says: "In addition to the stamps there is an extensive range of products-exclusive souvenirs, limited editions and gifts. Products include framed stamps, prints and a prestige stamp book, which provides behind-the-scenes access to the world of Game of Thrones, from costume designs to film locations and early set designs."
