Many families have babies who experience sleep problems, but professional help is at hand with companies like Good Sleep Baby.

According to Wang Shiyunyue, the chief consultant of the company, 21 percent of Chinese children aged below 5 years old have problems getting a good night sleep, and this is mainly due to unreasonable expectations from the parents.

In view of this, professional guidance — like infant sleep counselors — is crucial for children's mental and physical growth.

Meanwhile, the International Women and Children's Health Association said that about 54 percent of women who have a child aged below 3 believe that restless babies waking up during the night leads to mental stress and family conflicts.

The baby sleep issue was dealt with at a news conference in Beijing on May 23.

It was also attended by Shangguan Shimai, the CEO of Good Sleep Baby, and Richard Ferber, the founder and former director of The Center for Pediatric Sleep Disorders at Boston Children's Hospital.
