China News Service, one of the country's national news agencies, released a smartphone game on Thursday to commemorate the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing.
The game Xunmeng Silu, which means "to look for dreams on the Silk Road", allows players to travel back to the Tang Dynasty (618-907) to experience adventures in novel-like plots along the ancient Eurasian trade route.
The plots in the game are connected with modern-day politics as well as buzzwords and important elements in the Belt and Road Initiative. In the game, players are able to communicate with netizens via the instant messaging tool WeChat.
Developers say that the game is a bid to blend popular entertainment with news.
CNS also released a song dedicated to the Belt and Road Initiative on Thursday.
