An installation titled Let your care illuminate the world by artist Xie Yong was unveiled at the Charter Shopping Center in Shenyang, Liaoning province on Sunday.
In his work, Xie, a professor at the School of Fine Arts, at Shenyang University, showcases five sculptures - each plastered with several layers of silken cloth.
Thanks to light sensor technology, the sculptures light up whenever visitors come close. So, more visitors mean brighter lights.
In one sculpture, a girl shields an old crippled beggar with her umbrella to protect him from the rain. The sculpture is based on a photo taken by an unidentified photographer. The picture went viral on the internet in 2013.
Through his work, the artist hopes to remind people that as long as we care, tiny actions can illuminate the world.
The exhibition will last through April 30.
