The China Sleep Research Society and the DeRucci Beddings Company Limited recently released a report on the sleep habits of Chinese youth.
The study comprised around 44,000 questionnaires, and 98.6 percent of those who took part were aged between 18 and 44, with the rest below 18.
Only 11.2 percent of those who took part said they had a good night's sleep until daybreak, while 45 percent said they would wake up at midnight because they slept too early, or due to other reasons.
About 76 percent said it was difficult for them to sleep well, and about 68.3 percent said they were sacrificing sleep to complete work assignments, study or do house work.
Before they went to bed, 93.8 percent said they used their mobiles, iPads or computers.
Only 3.4 percent said they slept at a regular time, 22.8 percent slept late and 31.4 percent said they sometimes slept late.
The main factors that were responsible for disturbed sleep were anxiety at the work place and in life, bad moods and staying up late.
Many were concerned about their sleeping environment – soundproofing, protection from light, proper temperature and moisture and comfortable bedding.
