Domestic release "Cold War II" soared to the top of the Chinese box office, earning 300 million yuan ($44.8 million) on its debut weekend, China Film News reported Tuesday.
Domestic animation "Big Fish & Chinese Flowering Crabapple" stood in second place with 229 million yuan in sales in its first weekend in Chinese theaters.
Third place went to domestic romance "So Young 2: Never Gone," which made 179 million yuan last week.
"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows" landed in fourth place last week. It has raked in 336 million yuan since its release on July 2.
Rounding out the top five was "Bounty Hunters," a China-ROK co-produced action movie which has grossed more than 200 million yuan since hitting screens on July 1.
