Chinese master artist Wu Guanzhong's portrayal of Zhouzhuang, the famous water town in Jiangsu province, fetched a record price of HK$236 million ($30.4 million) at Poly Auction's spring sale on Monday night.
The painting, mainly in black, grey and white, is composed of elements of point, line and plane. The oil painting uses a curved bridge in the foreground, and highlights the folk houses in China's Jiangnan area through the surrounding water.
