The opening ceremony of the China Cultural Week was held in Mexico City on March 15. Organized by the Chinese Embassy to Mexico, the China Cultural Center in Mexico and the Mexico House of Representatives, the Cultural Week is an important part of the 2016 China-Latin America Cultural Exchange Year. Chinese Ambassador to Mexico Qiu Xiaoqi and many officials from Mexican ministries and members of the House were present.
Qiu noted that the cultural exchange between the two countries will help to promote mutual relations and bring their people closer together.
An exhibition, "Silk Road - A New Look" and performances by Guizhou artists were staged after the opening ceremony. Cultural Week will feature Qiu's lecture on China's current economic situation, the launch of the second children's painting competition, "China in My Imagination" and its relevant picture albums, and the kick-off of the third painting competition.
