A group of 30 Chinese artistes including singers, dancers, acrobats and dramatists are expected to perform on Jan. 28 and 29 in the Rwandan capital Kigali to celebrate the forthcoming Chinese Lunar New Year.
Rwandan artistes from National Ballet are also expected to perform at the event to take place at the University of Rwanda's College of Education.
Briefing journalists in Kigali on Thursday, Pan Hejun, Chinese ambassador to Rwanda said the event aims at promoting cultural relations and enhance mutual understanding between Rwanda and China.
"We hope it will bring out the rich cultural elements to the people of Rwanda and promote a mutual understanding between China and Rwanda," he said.
Similar cultural activities which have taken place involving both countries include the annual Kungfu Wushu events supported by the Chinese Embassy in Kigali.
This is the third time for the event to take place in Rwanda since 2013.
The Chinese in Rwanda and Rwandans are expected to attend the most celebrated event according to Chinese traditions.
The event has been organized by the Chinese Embassy in collaboration with Rwanda's Ministry of Sports and Culture.
It also features exciting activities such as making dumplings, posting New Year couplets, making New Year visits among others.
