Leaders and People
, a permanent exhibition was recently unveiled at the National Museum of China in Beijing. It displays artworks that show roles played by leaders and the general public in the country's rejuvenation in the 20th century. The exhibits include dozens of ink paintings, oil works and sculptures by Chinese masters, both living and dead.The show's centerpiece is Birth of New China, a massive ink painting that shows members of the Central People's Government Committee, the country's top authority from 1949 to 1954. Tang Yongli, a professor of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, is the painter.
Other highlights include The Iron Taihang Mountain, which pays tribute to people fighting against Japanese invasion from the communist-led revolutionary bases, and Masterminds of the Century that has images of more than 100 people who have contributed greatly to social progress in China over the past century.
