This year's Silk Road International Film Festival is underway in Fujian's capital, Fuzhou.

India is the guest of honor this year.

Indian-produced film Let the Heart Beat has premiered at the opening ceremony.

The film is about a family that takes a trip that changes them forever.

Indian director Zoya Akhtar says she believes her film will resonate with Chinese audiences.

"I think human stories are related and they go beyond borders. At the end of the day, China, India, America and Australia, emotionally people are the same. So if there is a story that emotionally relates people, I think it will connect. So it's culturally different, but we have civilizations and we are both Asians. There is a connection there."

Chinese stars Jackie Chan, Fan Bingbing, Yao Chen, Zhang Guoli and director Chen Kaige are due to take part in the Silk Road International Film Festival's closing ceremony on Saturday.
