Chinese Vice Premier Liu Yandong met with Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka on May 24 during Liu's official visit to the country. The following day, she also held talks with Bangladeshi President Abdul Hamid.

Liu conveyed the greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang to the two leaders separately, and carried out talks on the relationship between China and Bangladesh.

During the meeting with Sheikh Hasina, Liu said that at the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two sides, China is willing to deepen the traditional friendship, broaden the pragmatic cooperation, strengthen the people-to-people exchanges and further develop the comprehensive cooperative partnership between the two countries.

She also expressed the hope that the two sides will work together to maintain the momentum of high-level exchanges, take the opportunities and achieve the common development of cooperative win-win in order to realize the Chinese Dream and "the dream of a golden Bangladesh".

According to Liu, Bangladesh owns a unique geographical position in the region as well as abundant labor forces. It is also one of the important countries along the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, and China appreciates Bangladesh's support for the initiatives of the "One Belt and One Road" and the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar economic corridor.

Under these frameworks, China is ready to join hands with Bangladesh to seek common interests, boost cooperation in industrial cooperation, infrastructure construction, agriculture, medical health, among others, so as to achieve substantial results and make due contribution to regional development, Liu said.
