A special exhibition that showcases the beauty of Thangka art kicked off in the China Cultural Center in Malta. More than 60 guests and representatives, including Chinese ambassador to Malta Cai Jinbiao and his wife, participated in the opening ceremony.

With the theme "discovery China", the exhibition presented this essential part of Tibetan culture. Around 30 items were on display, with some of the artworks dating back to the 17th century. Relevant documentaries were also played on the exhibition to enhance people’s understanding of thangka art.

Wang Yanjun, head of the China Cultural Center in Malta said that the event signaled the determination of the Chinese government to protect and advance Tibetan culture.

Wang Rui, thangka art expert, also gave a presentation about the production of the artworks and stories about the exhibits at the opening ceremony. Mainstream media from both countries, including Beijing TV and Malta national television, covered the event.
