A Chinese folk art expo featuring handicrafts by eleven outstanding folk artists from eight provinces of China will tour Eastern US from April 10—20.

The exhibition, entitled "Slow Made in China", will be held at several universities and museums, including New York University, Yale University and Boston Children’s museum.

During the exhibition, the artists will display the processes of making their handicrafts, and the audiences can participate in DIY activities to make simple handicrafts themselves. The handicrafts include paper cutting, Miao embroidery, Qingyang sachet-making and Beijing Opera mask-making, etc.

Aside from gaining hands-on experience making these crafts, audiences will also be treated to stories shared by master craftsmen, which may serve to inspire audiences to find out more about these folk arts.

Activities such as this exhibition will help spread the beauty and subtlety of Chinese folk art and promote communication between East and West, says sponsor The China Society for the Study of Folk Literature and Art.
