The Ministry of Culture has published the results of an investigation into online companies that violate rules and laws. Nine Internet animation companies and 13 Internet game corporations received administrative penalties, and 10 animation websites have been closed down. The crackdown mainly focused on pornographic content, gambling and anti-social mobile games and Internet animations.

According to the official document the Temporary Provisions of Internet Culture Management Rules, nine companies were fined and forced to stop their business operations for allegedly publishing violent, immoral and antisocial content on their online animation platforms; 10 websites were shut down as they reportedly did not have license to operate and because their animation products were violating the rules; another 13 firms were fined and ordered to delete some of their Internet game products that allegedly promoted sex, gambling and violence.

It has been reported that the crackdown will intensify in the coming days and a "blacklist system" will be established to better regulate the Internet.
