The Museum of Anthropology of Xiamen University is a special museum on Chinese anthropology, archeology and ethnography. Located in Xiamen University in Xiamen City of Fujian Province, the museum was prepared in 1952 and opened to the public in March 1953.
The museum has about 4,575 sets of cultural relics, and 1,110 sets of appropriative books, one set consisting of several pieces. Divided into mainly three exhibitions -- the Genesis and Evolution of Human, the Genesis and Evolution of Culture, and the National Relics Home and Abroad, the museum has 30-odd display rooms that contain artifacts and relics from prehistoric to modern times.
The Hall of Genesis and Evolution of Human displays a complete map of human revolution from ape to man with restored models and fossils. The Hall of Genesis and Evolution of Culture displays artifacts of the Stone Age, oracle, bronze, ancient currency, porcelain, paintings and calligraphic works, weapons and sculptures. The Hall of National Relics Home and Abroad exhibits cultural relics both of different nationalities in China and of other countries, such as India, Australia and other southeast countries.
